Background:
"This wonderful shirt maps ten of the brightest stars visible from Earth across six constellations, color-coded by star type and labeled with their apparent magnitude (brightness). Canis Major features Sirius (magnitude -1.46), the single brightest star in the entire night sky, appearing brilliant white. Carina hosts Canopus (magnitude -0.72), the second brightest star overall, rendered in vivid yellow-gold. Orion, perhaps the most recognizable constellation, showcases two superstars: the red supergiant Betelgeuse (magnitude 0.70), dramatically depicted in deep red, and the blue-white supergiant Rigel (magnitude 0.12). Lyra contains Vega (magnitude 0.03), one of the most luminous stars in the northern sky. Boötes is home to the giant orange star Arcturus (magnitude -0.04). Auriga features Capella (magnitude 0.08), a brilliant yellow giant. Finally, Centaurus presents two stars for the price of one — Alpha Centauri (magnitude -0.01), our closest stellar neighbor, and Beta Centauri (magnitude 0.66)."
